-I think it’s time to say goodbye to this blog. Let’s be super honest here because I think I wore my stay on this blog.
-Of course, I am incapable of leaving the tumbling world therefore I have created another gorgeous tumblr.
-Basically, I think the rule of thumb is you’re under no obligation to add me at all. I don’t give a shit if I knew you since forum days but if we have differences in opinion, let’s go our separate ways.
-Let me know if y’all still want to keep in touch with my lovely self through the axe box~
In case y’all missed it~ I am checking the messages on this tumblr still.
Once again, don’t follow cause you feel obliged. If my opinions tire you, that’s cool. This is an easy and passive aggressive way for me to end this passive bullshit.
Why thank you, lovely. Maybe the end of this tumblr should be on a high note by an ask from someone as lovely as you seem to be :’)
No, I don’t hold kajrare in high regards but rather my followers whom I have known since forums that think it’s cute not to say they have a problem with me and just send rather basic anon messages.
-I guess I need to let me Bollywood anons know that I know who y’all are. I have known you since forums so I don’t understand why y’all think I wouldn’t know it’s you sending hate. :’)

I am so tired of the whole fucking Bollywood fandom.
I am tired of being labeled “reverse racist.”
I am tired of saying the same fucking thing over and over and getting a “you’re a reverse racist response.”
Because for me Bollywood is about desis and what it does to the desi community and how they portray the desi world. It’s about the balance of art in reality and reality in art.
It’s how I connect with my culture and somehow connect it to what I understand about my culture.
Yes, I think a desi person has more of a right to talk about what they feel.
Fuck this fandom man.
I am not saying Bollywood is perfect y’all. It’s downright misogynist, Hindu elitist and just sometimes shouldn’t make movies about things.
But I am just tired of this fandom.
Also, just because another desi person doesn’t find a certain thing problematic doesn’t mean it makes my discomfort less.
I will fight the whole fandom for this.
I am tired of being shown in a bad light but fuck you.

I often contemplate why I find Bollywood stars so much less charming than Hollywood stars (okay, not “often,” but the thought has crossed my mind a few times). I think Abhishek is a charmer because he’s like an overgrown kid. Preity is charming because she doesn’t seem to care what people think of her. But other than that…
And I think the answer is that Bollywood stars can’t really laugh at themselves. Even when they seem to be, they’re really not. Their image is so carefully controlled. I see these hilariously funny, self-deprecating interviews with Hollywood stars, which often require them to admit a weakness or vulnerability or character flaw, and you just don’t really see that in Bollywood. Everything is a competition there. Who’s number one? Who’s king/queen? Two actresses can’t get along. Actors are always backbiting. Everyone is SO conscious of their image that the only quality they really seem to project is arrogance (truth be told, as much as I love Bollywood and think it was the “starriest” stars in the world, the majority of them are arrogant beyond belief, and if they’re not arrogant, they simply seem like they have a stick up their ass).
Of course, it’s not entirely their faults. They’ve been conditioned to act that way. The Indian media is absolutely deplorable. There is hardly any responsible entertainment journalism. They don’t ask actors/actresses to let loose for the sake of the the entertainment of the audience, they ask them to let their guard down so that they can do snarky write-ups about them.
And, of course, there are cultural restraints that I’m sure a lot of them are wary of.
So I know I can’t completely blame the actors, but it’s really off-putting. Being a Film & Media major, I’m really interested in how it all ties together, but being a fan and an audience member (although not the target audience, obviously), I really wish things worked differently because so many of them come off so negatively…
Is this post for real?
LOL.
Basically, I had been leaving replying to this post for a while because I had exams and wouldn’t be able to do justice in reply to this piece of basicness.
Are you serious, OP? Are you actually serious?
Congratulations on writing yet another dismissive post about Bollywood because apparently it ultimately fails to compare with the “diversification” of Hollywood. Because apparently everything Bollywood does has to come back to Hollywood despite the fact that one of the industry’s target audience has nothing to do with the western world.
This post just reminds me of yet another comparison which makes Hollywood come out as something “special” and apparently something other movie industries should strive to emulate because Hollywood is apparently the highest and best-est industry. In the same vein as “Hollywood makes so many diverse movies” while “Bollywood makes musical that is not different from one another” these two comparisons belittle the Hindi cinema industry because it cannot offer what is supposedly different and once again ignores the cultural ramification of what Bollywood means to the target audience.
Also, are serious with saying that self-deprecating results to being more charming? What kind of loaded bullshit is that? There’re different ways of showing your personality and being self-deprecating is not the only way. Also, clearly you don’t know much about Bollywood if Abhishek is supposedly the most charming.
I think I wouldn’t have had so much problem with this post if the “backstabbing” and “powerhungry” label wasn’t attached exclusively to Bollywood by the OP. Because wow? Also, next time I see someone besides a #fffff person win something in the awards, I might maybe begin to act like Hollywood is something es-pechial~
lol
You are right. Any acknowledgment that Hollywood might do something right is clearly dismissive of everything Bollywood stands for. Because no one watches movies from both industries. No one will EVER compare the way the two industries function.
Never mind the fact that if I had written a post about all the things Bollywood does better than Hollywood, I probably wouldn’t hear jack from you.
You know, I totally get that Bollywood gets a lot of unfair criticism. But it does not exist in a vacuum. Bollywood makes bad movies, and it makes good movies. So does Hollywood. But that does not mean that the two industries don’t function differently and as an audience member, having watched more than my fair share of interviews with personalities from both industries, I pointed out the differences I saw. Notice that I’m talking about my own personal opinion here. You’re entitled to believe whatever you’d like. But if you expect me to take your reply seriously, sorry, I don’t. Because it should be pretty damn obvious that I was talking about what the audience sees, not what actually goes on. It’s common fucking sense that every entertainment industry in the world is made up of backstabbing, misogynistic, and power hungry. But as someone who only sees what is PROJECTED, yes, I generally find Hollywood stars more charming because the way they respond to the media is different. The media itself is different.
As for what’s charming, yeah, appearing to be able to laugh at yourself and not take yourself too seriously plays a big part in it and ugh can we please not even pretend like it doesn’t? Yeah, self-deprecation makes it easier to relate to the person that you’re watching onscreen, which people generally find charming. Oh, and lest we forget that I was talking about what I PERSONALLY find charming, but go ahead and dictate what should appeal to me, by all means. And LOL as for finding Abhishek charming, you have got to be kidding me. Fine, it’s cool that you disagree but let’s not pretend that there aren’t a gajillion people out there that find him extremely likable. Please.
Good thing the original post had absolutely nothing to do with the color of the people who win awards in Hollywood. Nothing whatsoever. And obviously, the fact that Hollywood, like mostly every other film industry, does a piss poor job of representing women & POC TOTALLY negates anything they’ve done right like, say, make a few good movies or produce an actor who people really like.
No, what I found insulting is that you labeled all the Bollywood as “money hungry” or “how two actresses don’t get along” or apparently only Abhishek has a personality? What I find insulting is how you continuously make Bollywood into just one thing. What I find insulting is how you think that you think it’s okay to ignore the cultural aspect of Bollywood?
Also, darling. Abhishek is not found charming by “gajillion” everyone. The ladies in Bollywood are a hell more charming than men. I find Deepika, Sonam, Anushka, Kareena, Priyanka to have all charms. In fact, two of the most charming ladies were the leading queens for two generation: Rekha and Sridevi. Urmila was the quite the charmer back in her days. Not everyone finds self-deprecation relatatable.
LOL whatever.
-So I have never talked about Dad’s obsessive love for Shabana Azmi or Jaya Badhuri or Smita Patil.
-But definitely, he had the major hots for Shabana and my mom rolls her eyes and he sweetly tells her she looks like Shabana :o (my dad’s got moves yo~)
-But also, strangers would try to discuss Bollywood with my fam and if they mentioned their love for Amitabh and how he saved Bollywood, yeah. Pretty much if my uncles were drunk enough (lol…they always were) this poor hapless stranger (with horrific taste) would get ejected from the house or talked about the wonder that is Jaya.
-People think my taste is accidental. LOL no. :’)
-Also my fam loves Britney Spears so clearly my family> yours~
